Peeling the Onion

A Gillespie Approach Training Graduate Writes Dr. Barry Gillespie

“I took the training recently and have been using this method ever since. I’m enjoying it and have been seeing wonderful changes in my clients overall.

I have been seeing a regression though and wanted to discuss this with you. Some clients do well after a few sessions and then regress even worse than the baseline problem.

For example, I had a 9-week-old baby with a heart condition and difficulty breathing. After working on him, his breathing improved. But the next day, his oxygen levels dropped drastically

Another example was my 4-year-old daughter. After I worked on her twice, she started regulating her stools and going more frequently. But then, a week later, she was suddenly having accidents daily that she never had before.

The last example was a 2-month-old baby with reflux and feeding problems. After working on the baby, she was much calmer, feeding better, and not refluxing as frequently. But the following week the reflux returned, and it was worse then it was previously.

I would like to know your thoughts and guidance on this phenomenon.”

Dr. Barry Gillespie Responds

Authentic healing focuses on peeling the traumatic onion from conception. The patient may have an initial positive response from peeling a few top layers, but then the deeper layers can appear with more intense symptoms. Since there are often ups and downs, healing may not always be a straight-line process.

The therapeutic goal for every patient is to become strain-free where the large majority do well. At the last visit, you never really know if the body has released all of its strain. If symptoms later surface for a few patients, more therapy is needed to address a deeper layer of the onion.
