Hope Is a Good Thing

A Patient Emails

“I am 34 years old and look healthy from the outside. But, on the inside, I suffer tremendously with shoulder, neck, and head pain. On good days, I’m about a 7/10 in pain, and, on bad days, I’m 10/10.

“I have two children, three and nine years old, and am a stay-at-home mom. I am very miserable and exhausted every day of my life with minimal neck movement and heaviness on the back of my head. Sometimes, when I’m chewing food, my jaw and the back of my head feel so tight.

“When I totaled my car at 19, I had whiplash and a concussion with no broken bones or bruises. As a young teenager, when I would laugh really hard, it would strain the back of my head. I just always thought that happened to everybody.

“As a child, I grew up in an extremely toxic environment with two parents who were verbally and physically abusive to me. I had lots of abandonment and rejection issues before I came to the Lord about seven years ago.

“I have had three rounds of physical therapy, X-rays, and blood work. I have tried every medicine that I could afford and completed every detoxification procedure without success.

“I have exercised every morning upon awakening for seven years before I even lift my body out of bed just to get my neck a little looser. I have dealt with this problem since high school.

“I have been to a chiropractor twice a week for over two years to work on my ‘straight neck.’ Sometimes, treatment gives me relief for up to an hour and, other times, it does nothing. I have done it all while spending thousands of dollars on searching for different ways to heal myself.

“I feel like a failure every day to my family as a mom and a wife because I can’t do certain things or [because] mommy is laying down because she’s in so much pain.

“Just touching the back of my head is very sensitive and sore. Because I do so many stretches to try to help my neck, that may aggravate it even more.

“I was referred to Barry, and my hopes are extremely high as I feel the Lord has pointed me in this direction. I want to be healed and have a great testimony for the whole world because I have suffered.”

The First Visit

As expected, she presented with a zero-second brain cycle and a very tight fascial web. Her lower-body fascia was pulling extremely hard on her upper-body fascia. In my world, the head and neck issues will not clear until the pelvis is cleared.

She could feel a lot of strain release in her body. Her brain cycle responded well after the first hour of therapy, and she has taken the first step in becoming loose. The goal is for her body to be more comfortable and to function better as the pain subsides.

The Patient Responded

“I have pain in my hips, and my right hip feels like something is pinched.”

My Response

That makes sense to me. Since your shoulder, neck and head pain were coming from fascial strain in your lower body, that needs to clear first. I will spend a lot of time there on the next visit.

The Second Visit

The lower body was clearing out nicely. There still remains a distinct neck arch, the root of her problem, where the fascia in her upper back and neck was pulling on the base of the occiput.

This strain needs to clear in future visits to help resolve her problem. At the end of today’s visit, her brain cycle opened to 120 seconds—a positive indicator. I am confident that with continued therapy, she will feel significant relief.
