Large Baby Stuck in the Birth Canal

It is nice to have competent students. When her friend in Iowa recommended that her toddler see a local Gillespie Approach provider in Pennsylvania, the mom Googled me—a pleasant surprise.

Her 2½-year-old had respiratory issues, allergies, and eczema. She only took steroids when her asthma flared up. She could only tolerate meat, pears, and vegetables while other foods reacted to her body.

The big factors in my mind were her 9½ pound size at birth, large head, and mom pushing for three hours. I assume that created the fascial pressure that I felt during the examination in her lungs (ribs), neck, throat, and head.

The Gillespie Approach is always trying to get at the root of the problem. During the first therapy visit, these tissues released beautifully, and her zero-second brain cycle opened to 120 seconds—wow.

For some of these cases I have found that the allergies and eczema can improve too, although I do not know exactly why. I expect her to do well in regard to her respiratory issues with further therapy.

Our approach is totally responsive to the patient’s needs at that moment. When I hold the body, I am listening to a specific strain pattern that the body is ready to release.

I know the body is remembering an old trauma that it has been holding onto for a while, maybe for even a lifetime. I trust that it knows best how to heal itself. I will allow the patient to do whatever s(he) needs to do in therapy without judgment.

I will just support the body in facilitating the healing. Therapists generally apply certain standard manual techniques for a specific condition. Maybe the body wants that, and maybe it does not.

By truly listening to what the body really needs, I believe that authentic healing can begin.
