A mother from Europe, who was working in America, emailed me, asking if the Gillespie Approach could help her daughter with astigmatism. Since the work corrected my astigmatism years ago, I said that therapy could possibly help her.
She had an appendectomy and braces. The appendix scar was not pulling into her eyes, and she was not wearing a retainer.
She had a few visits of pure craniosacral therapy with another provider resulting in some vision improvement. But it lasted only for a few days, indicating that the fascial web was straining the eyes.
The eyes, as part of the fascial web, are sensitive to strains from the rest of the body. I found that her neck fascia was pulling into both eyes, with more tension on her left.
At the first visit, this strain started to release nicely. As it continued to let go during the second visit, I referred her to a massage therapist because her neck muscles were too tight.
Every muscle cell is surrounded by a thin layer of fascia. Some patients have neck muscles that are just too tight for full release of the cranial meninges.
After more neck massage, she returned for the third visit. Some deep strain released, and her brain cycle ended at 210 seconds.
The family went back home to Europe for the holidays and returned to their medical providers, who originally diagnosed her with astigmatism. Through their testing, they said there was only a slight trace left.
When she returned to America for the fourth visit, there was some lingering fascial strain going into both eyes. I believe that once that let go and with a little more muscle therapy, the astigmatism would be completely corrected.
This craniosacral fascial philosophy puts a new light on eye diseases. I believe that the eyes do not exist as two organs in sockets isolated from the rest of the body but as a vibrant part of the craniosacral fascial system.
