Building the onion of pain - girl with horse - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Building the Onion of Pain

By 25, you have experienced twelve years of back pain. How did you get there? What does the next 50 years look like without correction?

A young mother presented with back pain for 12 years. Her husband was responding well to therapy, so she wanted to give it a try.

The vast majority of my patients are holding layers of strain from traumatic events. Let’s review her history.

Birth

She knew nothing about her birth—a common finding. But my mentor, Dr. Viola Frymann found that 88% of all newborns in her research had craniosacral restriction. So most people begin life with strain in their bodies.

Dr. Frymann’s research is the basis for our work at birth; wipe the birth trauma slate clean to prevent many issues later in life.

Horses

Horseback riding is great until there is trauma. But when you are young, there are seemingly no limits to what you can do. But the fascial web remembers each trauma that becomes part of the onion.

The pain started a little later as sciatic nerve pain. Her feet went tingling and numb when standing for periods of time.

Cross-country in High School

Whatever strain was present in the body was certainly compounded with miles of running.

Childbirth

Her back pain became significantly worse after the birth of her first child. There was also pelvic trauma and tearing involved in labor and delivery.

Her brain cycle was zero seconds, and she had layers of strain through her pelvis and trunk. The first visit showed pelvic and trunk twists, a pure neck arch, a full-body arch, and a swayback strain. Her body was eagerly waiting for the opportunity to heal itself.

Her brain cycle opened to a terrific 120 seconds even though I never touched her head. I expect gradual improvement as we revisit her layers of trauma to achieve authentic healing.
