A New Gillespie Approach Therapist Emails
"I had a second session with a man who was born with forceps. It was so interesting.
"I worked on his legs for a while hoping to clear anything starting in his back and core. As the legs quieted down, I moved to his neck and trunk.
"He was quieter than I expected for someone born with forceps and who has suffered a lot from depression. I am thinking they are connected.
"As I was holding him while praying, it came to me to have him place his hands on either side of this head where the forceps would have gripped his cranium. His body started talking immediately.
"He started to have another emotional release with his body swaying back and forth as if he was being yanked out of the birth canal. In the middle, he said he felt like he was screaming as he felt he was being pulled out. He didn’t want to come out because he knew things were going to be hard.
"We continued and, after a few more times, he said his emotions completely changed. He felt victorious that he made it out of his mom and that the devil hadn’t succeeded in taking his faith away or him taking his own life with all the suffering he has endured.
"The work is very powerful. I am excited to hear how’s he’s doing. I see him again this week.”
Dr. Gillespie Responds
Thank you to a recent graduate for sharing this brilliant work. There are a number of salient points:
This therapist took our training one year ago and decided to switch from her finance career to attend massage school. This story was about one of her first patients after receiving her license to practice. You do not need years of medical education and clinical experience to become proficient—just apply our principles and incredible results can follow.
The craniosacral fascial system remembers birth trauma, even as a senior adult. Patients can hold the physical and emotional pain inside of them for their entire lives.
This story exemplifies the power of just listening—the most important concept of our work. Let the body revisit the traumatic event(s) and let God do the healing.
Intuition takes you out of your thinking rational mind and touches the world of healing. Connecting the dots of having the patient physically and emotionally relive the forceps delivery was very powerful.
It makes me reflect—what am I still holding on to? I am convinced that we initially entered this profession to help others heal but, on a deeper level, to find healing for ourselves.
