Chronic Earaches and Ear Tube Surgery

I often discuss tight cranial bones with a zero-second brain cycle. In some conditions, the position of the bones can also be an important factor.

A five-year-old boy presented with chronic earaches. He had tubes placed a few years ago and now needed a second set. Mom said, “No health professional is asking why this is happening."

She wanted to see if there was an alternative natural way to correct the problem. As another motivating factor, the proposed surgery was $6,000, with the family paying $3,000 out of pocket.

He presented with the expected zero-second brain cycle but had a unique cranial shape. His head was rather flat on the sides as part of a narrow width but elongated lengthwise from his face to the back of his head.

Forty-plus years ago, the cranial osteopaths taught me that the temporal and parietal bones could be flat from internal rotation due to birth trauma. A common clinical result was a predisposition for the child to have chronic earaches.

When you placed your hands on the sides of his head, they felt flat. This position disturbed the normal flow of fluid from the middle ear into the nasopharynx. Therapy reestablished the normal bulge on the sides of the head, resulting in healthier cranial physiology.

Over the years, I found that, for some children, dairy products were a metabolic co-factor. The theory being mucous from the dairy can clog the narrow auditory or Eustachian tubes, running from the middle ear to the nasopharynx. I found that dairy products had to be eliminated 100% (not 80%) from the diet for complete correction.

This child had tight neck fascia pulling into his head. When it let go, his brain cycle released to 70 seconds while his parietal and temporal bones opened to a more rounded position. I expect him to do well with therapy.

The work at birth to prevent the later effects of trauma is the answer. Let’s make it happen for every newborn.
