Cord Wrapped, Not Breathing

Birth professionals believe that once you come into this world alive and your APGAR scores are normal, you are good-to-go. Not so in my view.

A twenty-year-old woman presented with shoulder, neck, and lower back pain. She also had digestive issues, anxiety, and depression.

She came from a loving family, looked healthy, and was in the prime of her life. In taking her history, I found that she had the bad luck of being born with the cord wrapped around her neck and not breathing, two huge red flags indicating our work.

Since this phenomenon went untreated, she had suffered its effects for twenty years. School was especially difficult with being unable to think, focus, and concentrate well.

She was also in a whiplash auto accident. She presented with an expected zero-second brain cycle and a very tight fascial web.

In therapy, she went into a deep neck-arch whiplash, which extended down into her lower back. She also had a trunk twist that was straining into her neck.

Considering how tight she was initially, she did well after the session with a brain cycle of fifty seconds. Like every patient after the first visit, she felt “looser" when she left the office.

The distinctive quality of the fascial web is that it can hold all of the physical and emotional traumas back to conception. Even though the newborn can breathe after the umbilical cord is unwrapped, the web is still holding that choking strain, causing full-body fascial issues, possibly for a lifetime.

Therapy needs to begin immediately to release the fascial pressure in the tiny body. I believe that many people on the planet are now suffering needlessly because they slipped through the cracks of the birthing profession.

Gillespie Approach Training is a must for all newborn providers.
