An infant presented with a small jaw and possible sleep apnea. I noticed two possible CFT factors. There was fascial strain in the mandible itself. Since the craniosacral fascial web connects every cell in every bone, we can assume that all of the cells in a healthy mandible need to be "loose" for growth and eventual accommodation of the adult teeth. Maybe tight fascial bone cells cause growing pains for some children? The second factor was the fascia in the back of the throat/neck was pulling on and retracting the mandible. This potential airway restriction may be an important piece of a sleep apnea issue. The primary question every CFTer needs to ask: Does the pathology of the patient's condition fit into the tight/loose craniosacral fascial system model? If so, CFT may be helpful.
