Lordosis, or Swayback

Lordosis, an excessive inward curve of the lower spine not widely recognized clinically, can cause chronic pain.

A middle-aged woman presented with lower-back, shoulder, and neck pain. She also had migraines and was not holding her chiropractic adjustments.

At the end of her pregnancy, her mother needed external cephalic version (ECV). But upon delivery, her newborn was blue with the cord wrapped.

She presented in my office with a zero-second brain cycle and a severe fascial twist in her trunk. This twist is rather common but rarely found and treated by healthcare practitioners. This fascial strain can cause havoc in the body.

The first two visits went well as the red cord mark on her neck appeared and later disappeared. The tissues were releasing nicely as her brain cycle opened to 100 seconds.

As she was feeling better, her trunk twist now appeared to spiral into her neck and head. That released well over a few visits.

At the end of the sixth visit, a lordotic strain surfaced out of nowhere. On the next visit, she went into a marked swayback posture, taking the entire session for me to help work out as much of this strain as possible.

That strain was pulling into her neck and head fiercely. I was hoping it was her core issue—the root cause of her remaining structural health conditions.

It may take many visits to peel through layers of the traumatic onion to access the root cause of the patient’s initial complaints. She was feeling better as we went along, but that lordotic strain needed to clear for genuine healing.

When patients initially present, the provider has no idea what strains are inside of them. We just listen to their bodies without judgment and allow them to do whatever they need to do to heal themselves.
