A woman living in the Northeast emailed me: “It has been nearly six years since my lower back was hit. I’ve been to many manual therapists, and I’m still unable to function normally.
“I’ve been impacted from the top of my spine to the bottom. My eyesight changed from one day to the next, my ability to have bowel movements changed from one day to the next, and being upright hurts too much.
“I’ve given up driving because of the pain. My breathing is shallow as I’m unable to breathe fully. I’m desperately reaching out to see if you’d evaluate and possibly help me.
“I’m 50 with three adult children, all vaginal births. I had an episiotomy scar that didn’t bother me until this blow to my lower back in May 2019. I feel trapped in my head and pelvis.
“A medical doctor recommended colon surgery, but I will do everything to avoid surgery. My aim is to naturally restore the normal function of my brain and body.
“Thank you for hearing me, and I hope to hear back from you. Everyone who’s had their hands on me has said, ‘I’m a complex case.'”
My Thoughts
This statement is very telling in our craniosacral fascial world: “I feel trapped in my head and pelvis.” We can strongly resonate with those words.
I suspect the blow completely restricted her craniosacral fascial system, resulting in a full-body issue. The episiotomy probably predisposed her to this latest trauma.
In correction, the body must revisit that trauma from six years ago and also the earlier episiotomy surgery for authentic healing. There may be additional conditions and old traumas, but I will let the body direct me in its healing. It may not be “a complex case” if you understand the breadth and scope of the healing potential of the craniosacral fascial system.
I am expecting a good outcome if the patient can stay the course in peeling the major layers of the onion.
The First Office Visit
She presented with the expected zero-second brain cycle with an additional history of a bad fall on a city street and a wide throat scar due to thyroid removal.
After the first two hours of therapy, her fascial web released well, and she had a 160-second brain cycle. I expect her to feel better over future visits as the strain leaves her body.
The Patient Responds
“I’m still in much pain when I’m upright, and walking, though I’m noticing breathing is somewhat easier. Still a lot of pelvic floor pain and neck pain, left flank pain, headaches, and eye strain pain. I noticed the moon of my right thumb returned to normal color. Keeping my fingers crossed.”
My Thoughts
She did get some positive response with therapy but was still holding many layers of her onion. Patients need to understand that healing is a process and not an event.
