Concussion Revisited
A patient emailed me about her concussion experiences:
“I am writing this testimonial with the hope that my experiences might benefit anyone with unresolved pain and suffering.
Thirty-five years ago, I was introduced to Dr. Gillespie after suffering a severe head trauma resulting in chronic head-to-toe pain, impairment of brain function and motor skills, chronic fatigue, clinical depression, musculoskeletal nerve pain, and residual difficulties from multiple medications and conventional protocols. I had seen multiple doctors, specialists, and therapists to no avail.
The Gillespie Approach literally saved my life 35 years ago. Since then, I have experienced multiple concussions, and Dr. Gillespie has been there at every turn to bring my body back into balance and restore healthy brain function.
Two weeks ago, I left his office with a brain cycle of 240 seconds. As I was leaving a recent restaurant luncheon, I hit my head on a wooden beam, resulting in another concussion. I immediately experienced head, jaw, and neck pain; tinnitus, blurry vision, and wooziness.
I arrived at his office the next day feeling totally ‘shut down’ with tingling in my hands, a severe headache, and jaw and neck pain. At the end of my 30-minute session, my brain cycle rebounded from zero seconds to 220 seconds. With the cranial compression released, I was lighter and felt that my brain could actually breathe.
On a personal note, having an untreated concussion not only created the stress of chronic physical pain that no medication resolved for me but an emotional and mental toll. I have felt depression, mood swings, lethargy, and apathy.
At times, I was in such a dark place that I simply felt there was no light at the end of the tunnel. It was only in revisiting and unwinding the trauma that I came to understand how the fascia and body were all connected.
I would like to thank Dr. Barry Gillespie for his courage, perseverance, and dedication to his work.”
