Dyslexia - mother showing boy to read - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a learning disability that affects children’s reading and language skills. Difficulties with accurate word recognition, poor spelling and decoding abilities are the hallmarks of this condition.

A fourth-grader presented with difficulty reading, and his doctor diagnosed him with dyslexia. Mom asked me if this therapy could help him.

I honestly told her that I have not seen enough children with this condition in my career to say for sure if therapy will help him. Some of the children had responded well and others had no response.

He presented with a zero-second brain cycle and a tight and twisted neck. She said that he was born with the cord wrapped around his neck twice and had breathing trouble immediately.

The doctor was initially concerned but did not make a big issue of the wrapped cord. But in the craniosacral fascial context, that phenomenon is a huge red flag indicating therapy.

After being a fussy baby for six months, his mother brought him to a local Gillespie Approach therapist. She explained the throat tightness, did a few visits of therapy, and he felt much better.

Later in my visit, mom mentioned, as an aside, that he had two or three “hard cracks” to his head as a toddler and young child. I felt that those traumas may have been the root cause of his dyslexia.

During my therapy, his upper body released nicely, and his brain cycle opened to 60 seconds. I will continue to work with him to help regulate his nervous system.

In the Gillespie Approach, we present a group of conditions where patients can expect a high percentage of correction. There are other conditions where some patients respond well and others have no response. We have a third group of conditions where no correction is expected.

In Pennsylvania, it is unethical for any healthcare provider to guarantee a successful outcome for any condition. I always say that my job is to help loosen and then God heals.

Gillespie Approach Training is critical for providers to help children with many conditions. We are blessed.
