A three-year-old presented with headaches and sleep issues. Her parents had unsuccessfully gone the medical route and were looking for a natural way of correction.
She had a history of a cesarean section birth with difficulty in breastfeeding. She subsequently had colic, gas, ear pain, and eye pain before the headaches came on. Please remember she is only three.
The parents presented in the office with a lot of apprehension. Mom said that she was scared that her daughter would have to live with these conditions, possibly for the rest of her life. She did not want medications to manage the pain.
The child had the typical zero-second brain cycle. Usually infants will have sleep issues with this tightness, and they could possibly have headaches that they just cannot tell us about other than by crying.
There is a special place in my heart for these children because left untreated, I feel they are looking at a challenging life of health issues. When I accessed a fascial twist in her neck in therapy, the fascia released more layers, and her brain cycle open nicely to eighty seconds.
Mom had a big smile at the second visit. Her headache frequency was much better, and she slept through the night, which she has never done before. On top of that, she had a dramatic mood swing immediately after the first visit from a grumpy child to a happy child who played with her toys nicely and interacted with family much better.
On that visit, more strain released, and her brain cycle went to 120 seconds. I expect her to do well with a few more visits. A happy baby/child = A happy mom/family.
It saddens me to see these children fall through the cracks of the healthcare system. I am all about the work at birth to prevent a lifetime of health problems—the world needs to see that concept.
