Perineum - adult woman smiling - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

The Perineum

For some women, the perineum can be the center of their universe.

A woman in her 40s presented with pelvic floor pain. She also had many health issues in her head, neck, and trunk.

I spent a number of visits working on her pelvic floor. Therapy progressed to the point where a cyst in her perineal area still remained.

After a recent visit, she felt that the cyst had burst. I hypothesize that when the tight fascia around the fluid released, the cyst broke open.

When I worked in her perineal area, a severe twist presented into her trunk, neck, and head. With each session, that strain appeared to be lessening.

A perineal strain can overtime creep up the body like a vine and create many conditions. So many women may have seemingly unrelated upper-body conditions where the root of their problem really lies in childbirth trauma to the perineum.

For fifteen years, she has dealt with many new health issues. The fascial web connects every cell in space (from perineum to cranium) and time (15 years to now), and through my clinical experience, the pelvic floor appears to be a breeding ground for many health conditions.

Pelvic floor trauma needs to be addressed directly after childbirth. This mother was fine after her first three children, but the fourth one created tearing. Gillespie Approach Training for providers can be the key to solve many conditions.
