Sustained Fetal Compression

A patient’s story can unfold right before your eyes with the Gillespie Approach. The older man from the recent Facebook post of the April 13, 2021, pain story is doing well. His lower back, hip, and leg pains are almost gone after two visits. But his achilles tendon is still very sore.

At the recent third visit a distinct twist in his right ankle appeared, another layer of his onion. This strain was pulling directly into his achilles. I felt from experience that it was more strain than could have resulted from just the trauma of the tight ice skates as a child. If that were the case, the patient would probably have had issues with both ankles.

I hypothesize that his right ankle was twisted in a sustained compressed fetal position. The skate triggered this predisposed ankle, and over the lifetime the untreated strain extended up his leg into his lower back. We are now retracing it in space and time from his adult lower back stage to his fetal ankle position—a different way of thinking about disease and authentic healing.

After today’s visit, his ankle felt much better. This is a perfect example of a structural illness developing in the space-time continuum. So many people are walking around today feeling the negative effects of their birth traumas. Since no one will ever determine their root cause, they may suffer their entire lives. Let’s take care of it on the first day of life.

Neonatologists need to realize the merit of the newborn work. Hospital administrators need to understand its health benefits. Insurance companies need to see its preventative financial value. Trained therapists need to provide it directly at birth.

Disease begins in the fascia.
