In the craniosacral fascial system, two completely different health conditions can unexpectedly originate from the same fascial strain.
A four-year-old presented with toe walking and asthma. She started to walk at 15 months and toe-walked at 18 months. Doctors prescribed ankle braces to help correct the problem.
She took an inhaler for her asthma. She experienced chest tightness when she got the pandemic virus. In my examination, her brain cycle was an amazing 120 seconds, but she had fascial strain from her feet and ankles, through her legs, and into her pelvis and lungs.
I spent most of the visit working on her feet and ankles. I hypothesize that they got stuck in utero in the toe walking position for an extended period of time. The fascial web remembered this trauma, which inhibited her ability to walk well.
When I went back to her lungs at the same visit, I felt significantly less fascial strain in them. It appeared that the strain in her feet and ankles was creating the tightness in her respiratory system.
Probably no one on the planet would acknowledge a direct connection between toe walking and asthma. But in the fascial web, where every cell of the body is connected to every other cell, anything is possible.
Healthcare providers need to expand their concept to the root causes of disease. Currently, they are in the disease management mode where braces and inhalers are the easy ”fixes” that just mask the underlying anatomical structural problems.
