AI reports: Approximately three million Americans sustain whiplash injuries in motor vehicle accidents annually. About 1,500,000 people experience chronic pain, and about 300,000 become disabled due to these injuries each year.
Craniosacral fascial therapy can be an excellent full-body modality for these patients. Unfortunately, only a handful of patients ever receive this therapy.
One of my patients sustained a whiplash injury recently. She was literally in shock as she got out of her car and wandered around asking bystanders what happened.
The emergency room doctor said that she had a probable concussion and suffered a whiplash injury. Even though all of the scans were clear, they do not show soft tissue damage.
The doctor recommended taking muscle relaxers. This is the typical medical allopathic response to Band-Aid the injury instead of helping the body heal it.
These accidents are just not confined to the neck but are full-body traumas that affect every cell of the body. Our therapy, which treats the entire fascial web, can be an excellent modality to help restore health.
Having previously had extensive therapy, she went in to this accidental strain immediately—the top layer of her onion. With more therapy, I expect her to return to her old self.
What about people who have never had the Gillespie Approach? They are living with the effects of all of their lifetime of traumas with this major layer now added on. They are looking at a longer road for recovery with our therapy.
What about the vast majority of people who have had no therapy or who are never treated effectively? This huge layer, added to their onion of trauma, can create pain for the rest of their lives.
If anyone suffers a whiplash accident and seeks help from the medical establishment, a therapist needs to be available to work with them immediately. Gillespie Approach Training is so needed for these providers.
The Patient Emails
“After the accident, I was experiencing headaches, my jaw was locking up, and I was hurting from head to toe. The full-body traumatic concept, referring to every cell in the body, was true.
“I was really experiencing crippling effects setting in before I was able to get treatment. I felt improvement after the initial visit because the strains in my body were addressed quickly.”
