Whiplash and Other Traumas

A misconception around whiplash car injuries and other traumas is that, given time to heal, the body will return to its former condition.

The craniosacral fascial system holds the memory of all its traumas after conception. Even though it may appear that a patient is completely healed, this system can still hold the strain of that trauma. It could be a whiplash injury, a surgery, a broken bone, a bad fall, a concussion—the list is endless.

That concept is important because the web can determine how well the brain and central nervous system function. The goal is to have loose cranial fascia where the brain can expand and contract optimally.

The fascial web can also become restricted. This can compromise the function of the body’s many systems. One may not feel this effect right away in the respiratory, cardiovascular, and other systems, but as the traumas accumulate over a lifetime, diseases can result.

A sixty-year-old woman presented with head, neck, shoulder, back, and lower back pain and took seven medications. She had a history of two bad whiplash car accidents as a younger woman.

When I started to work with her craniosacral fascial system, she immediately went into a whiplash arch position. Even though the traumas were decades ago, her craniosacral fascial system was still holding them and creating misery.

In the first session, the tissues released nicely, her brain cycle opened to 80 seconds, and she felt looser. At the second visit, she felt like a different person for a week before the tightness and suffering returned.

I explained to her that the fascia holds traumas in layers and that deeper levels were being accessed. More therapy opened her brain cycle to 120 seconds, and she left more relaxed.

The craniosacral fascial system remembers all. Gillespie Approach Training can unlock the healing door for patients.
