Sound basic laboratory research is usually the foundation of a scientific proof. In all honesty I do not see that happening for CFT at birth. No parent in the world would allow surgery for their healthy baby. Moreover, it would be a huge ethical/moral issue for any research scientist to take cranial/sacral/fascial tissue from any newborn/infant.
As Einstein inferred, pure scientific truths do not exist. Let’s say there are 7 billion people living on the planet, and CFT (or any other health care procedure) works for the first 6,999,999,999. Can we positively say that it will work for the last person? No, we can never know for sure; we can only say it has an extremely high probably of working.
All health care providers “practice” their specialty because it is safe and works consistently. Working with neonates, especially in the NICU, we are primary concerned with safety. Krissy, Mike, and I found CFT to be safe and effective for infants in our Lancaster research project. Infant CFT has been clinically safe and effective for our students/colleagues in North America, Latin America, Europe and Africa.
A mother asked me a pointed question recently: “What makes the fascia release?” I am not sure if we will ever know that answer. I believe the body is continually healing itself. If you have terminal cancer and one minute left to live, your body is still desperately trying to heal itself.
If you had trauma at birth, your body is trying to heal the strain in your craniosacral fascial system. An infant with a minor strain pattern may heal without assistance, but tighter babies will need “knowing” CFT hands.
When we are deep in an infant’s strain pattern, we expect a momentary release of the system. I cannot tell what is microscopically happening to that infant and my hands; science has its mysteries. No one really knows how electricity specifically works, but we use it every day. Our rationale is that CFT releases a restricted craniosacral fascial system to allow the body to heal itself.
