“My son cries in pain all of the time. He is miserable.”
A three-month-old with reflux, gas, sleep issues, stridor, and laryngomalacia presented for evaluation. He constantly cries inconsolably.
He had a zero-second brain cycle and fascial strain in his digestive area, diaphragm, throat, and bilateral TMJs.
Everyone has experienced pain. One might say that it is a part of the human experience.
When I have pain, I always ask what caused it and how can I stop it as soon as possible. When I had headaches in the 1970s, the first order of business was to find out the root cause of the problem.
If I had taken the prescribed medication, I would have been much less willing to search for the answer. Pain kept me awake to the problem without falling asleep to it.
When I see an infant in pain, my heart melts as I talk with distraught parents. Doing a complete pediatric exam and medical testing only to find nothing wrong is no reason to give up searching for the answer.
Since babies do not fake pain, there must be a physical factor causing the problem. If one digs deep enough, the fascial web becomes a real possibility.
Maybe, during those 40 weeks, soft tissue trauma created pressure of up to 2,000 pounds per square inch on the fascial web. Since the web is loaded with sensory nerve cells, maybe that pressure is causing the pain.
At the first visit, I did a complete session from his pelvis to his highly sensitive TMJs. Almost immediately, he went into a deep sleep in his mother’s arms. His body was transitioning from sympathetic (fight or flight) mode to parasympathetic (calm and relaxed) mode.
His brain cycle opened to a great 70 seconds. I believe he was on his way to becoming a happy baby.
