This is what can happen to a baby without therapy at birth. After a ten-year-old boy finished his palatal widening appliance therapy, his parents wanted my opinion about his health issues:
- Headaches: He and a lot of other children have headache complaints with a zero-second brain cycle.
- Mouth breathing: This signals a possible tight diaphragm, narrow airway, and tight fascia restricting his cranial tissues.
- Tongue thrust (he had tongue tie surgery): He had seen many dentists who missed this diagnosis—ouch. His grade school teacher notified his parents, and he will start myofunctional therapy soon.
- Possible sleep apnea: This is thought to be an adult problem, but the seeds can be sown at birth and manifest its early stages in childhood.
- Asthma: When a child with a tight body presents, pediatric asthma can always be a possibility. With so many respiratory dots present for him, it makes sense that he also has asthma.
- Military neck: This indicates a deep fascial strain in his neck, probably originating in his lower back or pelvis.
- Scoliosis: I feel that this can result from compressive fetal twisting, which was not a problem for him in the womb. But when he functions in the gravitational field, this fascial distortion can possibly create scoliosis, kyphosis, or lordosis.
- Lower back pain: This area may be the root of many of his conditions. The lower back and pelvic fascia can pull on and distort all of the above body structures.
- Leg strain: The fascia in his legs was tight and gave him “growing pains.” I believe that when the leg bones grow in a tight fascial web, pain can ensue.
I believe that with therapy at birth he would have been a different boy today. Gillespie Approach Training is a blessing for all neonatal providers.
The Patient’s Mother Shares an Update
The patient’s mother shared:
“Dr. Gillespie, after my son’s first session, his chiropractor commented how his legs and neck adjusted better than ever. I was so excited to share that his Gillespie Approach treatment was in those two areas. Also, upon leaving the second session of Gillespie Approach with you, my son exclaimed to me how his legs didn’t feel sore. He also mentioned that he was able to get on the balls of his feet now and jump up, feeling lighter. We’ve searched for over eleven years to find true help; we are so thankful and know that you are changing our son’s future with craniosacral fascial therapy!”
