For some complex pediatric cases, our platform can make an impossible medical situation more understandable and treatable.
A teenage boy presented with multiple issues. He had a rough birth at 36 weeks with low amniotic fluid. Hearing from his mother that he had slow breastfeeding, a weak cry, and swallowing difficulty, I surmised that birth trauma was at the root of his conditions.
The best doctors had little to offer:
- He went to a major children’s hospital for his headaches. The CT scan was clear, and the doctors diagnosed him with complex migraines. His parents were not interested in managing that condition with drugs.
- After all of the testing, a cardiologist said that he did not have a heart problem. He thought it could possibly be postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
- For the tightness in his throat, an ENT doctor said the cause was idiopathic (unknown) and even suggested it was psychogenic. Wow! He could not see the fascia restricting his tight vocal cords and throat.
- He complained to all of his doctors about tension and an air pocket below his diaphragm, but everyone blew him off.
- Mom said she never considered a neurologist, because she could not see what s(he) would correctively offer in the medical allopathic model.
All of these conditions can be connected in space and time in the craniosacral fascial system. The beautiful aspect of the Gillespie Approach is that, when I first held and listened to his neck, he could feel the strain pulling into exactly where the pain was. When you listen to the body, it can take you to the exact point of discord.
After the first visit, he reported by email that he felt a little improvement with most of his issues. So he began his journey back to structural health.
I am so high on the work at birth to prevent so much suffering. Gillespie Approach Training is a must for all neonatal providers.
