Anxiety and depression - woman crying - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Anxiety and Depression

A new patient with anxiety and depression emailed me this note before her first appointment.

“I want to let you know that I am very nervous about this appointment. I have tried hypnosis, acupuncture, dozens of medications and several types of behavioral and brain-based therapies. I guess my question at this point is, have you had success with patients like me before? I understand everybody is different and therefore the results are, too. I feel it would take a miracle to get me back to a functional, confident person again.”

The answer is yes about success, and no, a miracle is not needed. Let me explain how I would allay her fears.

I look at the body differently than everyone else in the healthcare system by evaluating how well the craniosacral fascial system is working. This system needs to function well to be healthy.

I am assuming this patient will be very tight with a zero-second brain cycle and restricted fascia throughout her body. How did this happen? What was the root cause of the problem?

Her history will have different traumas, some remembered and others forgotten. The biggest issue is usually what happened during those forty weeks of gestation and birth, often our most difficult journey in life.

If a patient tells me that her or his problem started in grade or high school, I know that birth trauma is almost certainly the cause. I have found over the decades that when the craniosacral fascial system regains its normal function, the nervous other systems of the body can work more optimally.

A loose, well-functioning body is a precursor for good health. Our approach can be the missing piece for many people.

It is my hope that someday our work will be an important aspect for these patients. The healing can start at birth where a golden opportunity exists to wipe the traumatic slate clean. Gillespie Approach Infant Training is so needed for our healthcare system.
