Infinite Healing Potential

I received an email from a happy grandmom:

"My daughter just sent me a video of my grandson rolling over! This is a miracle; however, the biggest blessing is that his congestion is much reduced, and he requires significantly less suctioning, which is life changing. You know his history [detached placenta and born at 33 weeks with severe Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE)], and [he was] not expected to live 24 hours never mind recover and meet all of his milestones at three months. We are all grateful to God and you for honoring Him in your life.”

Soon after he was born, doctors pulled the plug and shut off his oxygen without the parents’ permission, perhaps a “test” to gather information. He survived and needed just a c-pap machine with no oxygen. In addition, doctors kept discussing a tracheotomy, which the family refused.

Doctors finally told the family that he was the worst of the worst and that he will never recover because his severe birth trauma indicated a 40-minute acid level. They also totally discounted neuroplasticity when the family challenged their prognosis. My contention is that no one—not even the best doctors on the planet—knows what the future holds for anyone else.

After he spent over 60 days in the NICU, his parents started to look at what could help him in the natural world. For the past month, I have been helping his body release craniosacral fascial strain, and the parents have been helping with therapy at home.

I have discovered that the newborn body has an incredible potential to heal itself. When the Gillespie Approach is done at birth where the body is freed of the effects of its birth traumas, all healing cylinders appear to be on go for the greatest potential to heal itself.

One of the most important reasons for the work at birth is for the healing to begin immediately for the brain-injured child. Since many of these children cannot be identified and diagnosed at five minutes of age, it is best to check and treat every child.

My feeling is that the moderately injured child with therapy may have significant or complete correction as the brain begins healing right away. The severely injured child may have significant gains and have a more moderate problem, if not full correction.

Let’s all honor the newborn’s ability to heal. Gillespie Approach Training for birth providers is so needed for our little ones.
