Pediatric asthma and anxiety - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Pediatric Asthma and Anxiety

A five-year-old presented with asthma and anxiety. Every time she had a cold, she came down with asthma and needed albuterol. Sometimes she required hospitalization for this condition.

She also had anxiety speaking to strangers, and her doctor diagnosed her with “childhood anxiety”—whatever that means. Her mother also had this problem and was afraid her daughter would follow the same path in life. She had a vacuum extraction at birth and ear tube surgery twice because of chronic congestion.

On examination she had a zero-second brain cycle and fascial strain in her neck down into her tracheobronchial tree. In my mind, the vacuum extraction possibly created strain in her upper body, predisposing her for asthma.

I also mentioned to mom that she needed muscle work for her neck and shoulders. I recommended that she call the nearest massage school and ask for a teacher who works with small children. The therapist can teach some techniques she can do at home to expedite the healing process.

On my oral examination, she had a class 3 occlusion where her lower jaw was jutting out further than her upper jaw. I am not an orthodontist, but my thought was to use an ALF to widen the arch and bring the maxillary bones forward to create a normal occlusion.

The ALF is an appliance that allows the brain to fully expand and contract as compared to other conventional orthodontic appliances which can create brain motion restriction. She just started a dairy-free diet, which helps cut down on mucus congestion in the respiratory system.

I have treated her for three visits. Her brain cycle opened to 220 seconds, and her respiratory fascia was freeing up nicely.

I feel her anxiety can be one of the zero-second brain cycle issues. Mom also had a zero-second brain cycle, causing her anxiety, and I expect them both to do well with therapy.

My wish would have been for her to have been checked and treated at birth to prevent this scenario. Providers need Gillespie Approach Training to unlock the door to authentic healing.
