Childhood anxiety - young girl - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Childhood Anxiety

Over the course of a year, a mother brought her four young children to me, each with different issues. What was unusual was that they all presented with a zero-second brain cycle. This is a story about the last two children:

An eight-year-old presented with severe anxiety. Her mother said she was in constant sympathetic mode. She had hand tremors and also had a cough that her doctor said was allergy related.

Along with her zero-second brain cycle, she had fascial restriction along the right side of her diaphragm. Her neck fascia was also extremely tight.

When I examined her, she was calm. But when I mentioned treatment, she broke out in tears while clutching her mom.

The unknown can create anxiety for a child, but this was way beyond anything I had ever seen. I then worked on an eight-year-old in mom’s lap with compassion, and she gradually became fine with it.

I felt that her cough may have been due to her fascial diaphragmatic restriction. I wondered if it was also compromising the function of her liver and gallbladder? The tissue started to release nicely in treatment, and her brain cycle opened to 40 seconds at the end of the visit.

Her four-year-old sister presented with impulse control, sensory seeking, scared of sleep, moved and talked non-stop, screamed at night, and had large tonsils, adenoids and tongue and speech issues. She was the hardest labor of all and had colic in infancy.

In therapy, she went into severe arching. Her fascia was pulling hard into her head, neck, and jaw probably contributing to her above conditions.

The arching, a critical factor for anyone, needs to be completely cleared. At the end of the visit, her brain cycle opened to a robust 60 seconds.

Since both girls had unusually tight necks, I recommended deep tissue work for them. Massage can beautifully expedite healing.

In my perfect world, each child would have been checked and treated at birth. The day will come when all of the needless suffering from birth trauma will end—a blessed day.

Mom Speaks

“It’s hard to not take it personally when all of your children have zero-second brain cycles and different reasons for needing the Gillespie Approach. I wish I had the opportunity to have them all treated after birth; we would have surely avoided many hard years. But looking forward, I feel so grateful to have Dr. Gillespie walk my children through the therapy process to find true healing.”
