Most commonly in the Gillespie Approach we work with babies/children/adults who arch backward into extension and bend forward into flexion.
Occasionally, we will encounter a patient whose trunk, neck, and head go into a lateral side-bending arch. Yesterday a patient went into a right lateral head/neck/shoulder side-bending arch where her head was resting on the top of her right shoulder. She has had neck issues her entire life.
Her mother told her that she was stuck in that position in the womb, and the doctor had to use forceps to get her out. When she was born, her head rested on her right shoulder. The craniosacral fascial system in the Gillespie Approach remembers traumas back to conception. These issues need to be addressed at birth to avoid a lifetime of suffering.
