Fascial web knows best - woman holding drink - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

The Fascial Web Knows Best

I do not fix anyone. The fascial web tells me what to do in its own space and time.

Three years ago, a woman presented with various issues and did well with nine visits of therapy. Recently, with no trauma, her left hip started hurting down to her Achilles tendon.

She told me that she injured this leg in high school over 30 years ago. I hypothesize that her body was healing that traumatic layer of her onion.

I have seen this many times in my own healing where my body was addressing an old injury. The process teaches patience, acceptance, and the incredible power of the body to heal itself.

The great weakness of the Gillespie Approach is that it does not heal or fix an area on demand. Today’s culture wants everything now, but authentic healing has its own timetable.

I started with her left Achilles and worked my way up the left side where she was experiencing many symptoms. The tissues released nicely, and her brain cycle responded well.

I could not tell if all the strain was released. Rather than see the patient again for no reason, I asked her to email me if the problem had not completely cleared.

She also told me that her feet rotated inward while growing up. I explained that may be another layer of trauma that may come up in the future.

The timing of any layer is impossible to predict. She may even go through her entire lifetime without it ever surfacing. It also may give her a problem next week.

Just as the body continues to heal itself 24/7 on a cellular level for the entire lifetime, it can also heal its long-term traumas in time. Our function is to understand and assist that process to resolution.

I believe that authentic healing always presents the best option. Gillespie Approach Training for therapists is needed to support this process.
