I believe that craniosacral fascial therapy will be an important piece of the puzzle in helping to prevent neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Current medical research in these diseases points to the critical importance of the brain’s waste clearing system and fluid balance.
In the waste clearing aspect, the glymphatic system is a series of channels that allows for detoxification of the central nervous system. Optimal brain expansion and contraction can help move the cerebrospinal fluid around the system, facilitating waste removal during the hours of restful deep sleep.
In the fluid balance aspect, the Gillespie Approach can also focus on how well the cerebrospinal fluid is moving during the waking hours. The brain expansion and contraction can also assist in this process.
The currently unrecognized second part of the equation of the craniosacral fascial system, the fascial web, is just as important. All of the cranial and spinal nerve sheaths need to be open and the fascial web needs to be free for optimal cerebrospinal fluid flow out of the central nervous system into the web.
Many other aspects such as deep restful sleep, correct diet, sensible lifestyle and meaningful movement can also contribute to avoiding these diseases. To address the physical aspect, I believe our work would be most effective in keeping this system working well.
When the world sees the benefits of the Gillespie Approach for everyone, the work at birth will become a must. Let’s mitigate the effects of any birth trauma to get every human being on the planet off to a great start in life.
Then any major trauma to the body will require a checkup visit to restore the proper function of the craniosacral fascial system. With all of the other aspects of correct living, I believe this would be a great preventative plan for a lifetime of neurological health.
Today, when a mother brings her fussy baby, a child presents with a headache, or an adult seeks help for various issues, the main goal is to help the body heal by optimizing the function of the craniosacral fascial system. In line with recent research, I believe patients will also be improving their chances of avoiding neurodegenerative diseases later in life.
I believe that someday terms like brain motion, fascial strain, and brain cycle numbers will become commonplace in the medical vernacular. Gillespie Approach Training will be a must for many healthcare professionals.
