For Gillespie Approach practitioners, patients/parents can have a very short memory.
Two weeks ago I saw a two-year-old who has coughed virtually every day and night of his life. Mom said that was the only reason she brought him to me. Can you do something about the cough?
Clinically, I felt fascial tightness in his diaphragm and deep in his neck that released well in therapy. I felt there was a fair possibility of resolution since we had the actual organ tightness and innervating phrenic nerve in the neck both nicely covered in therapy. Just playing my Dr. Loose role, I expressed no positive expectations after the visit.
Today I asked mom, “Was there any change after two weeks?” No, emphatically, she saw no change. But after talking for a minute, she did notice after that visit, he coughed once that night and has not coughed since then.
