This is a note from Gina in South Africa who took the CFT and Baby Day training in Lancaster, Pa. in 2011.
“Last week after a lot of pressure from a Paediatrician, I agreed to see one of his babies in the NICU. She was a twin in high care, just on a feeding tube. For four weeks they couldn’t get her to drink, and she was fighting so in marked extension. Since she didn’t make eye contact, the medical staff was querying neurological issues, though the scan was clear. Having tried everything, they had all given up hope for this baby.
Needless to say, I was quite nervous. The parents signed a consent form, and I insisted a parent and nursing sister were present for each treatment. The Paediatrician, speech therapist, and lactation consultant watched the entire first session.
After two CFT/IDM sessions on Monday and Tuesday, she was drinking her full bottle. They took the tube out, and she started to make eye contact like a normal baby. I went to see her again on Friday. When I got up to leave, she was drinking her bottle but followed me with her eyes the whole way to the door. That was the most special moment for me. The mom said she likes you, and she’s saying thank you.
She was discharged for home on Saturday. The Paediatrician was very impressed. Quite an experience for me, and a great response from all.”
Comment
Gina’s NICU story struck an emotional heartstring. The experience of a hospital team watching a struggling baby regain health in South Africa was a compelling story of the human condition. Clinically demonstrating the safety, effectiveness, and power of the work in this manner may be the best avenue to approach the global medical system. We can reach birth professionals through the softness of their hearts. Conversely, trying to explain new concepts like craniosacral and fascia strain could send up red flags in their scientific minds.
Simply stated in a universal language, tight babies can be unhappy; we help to loosen them to become happy. I believe in my heart that someday the world’s birthing women will run with this powerful work.
