A former patient with a right TMJ problem presented last week with something new—pain opening her jaw on the left side. She also had left neck and shoulder pain running down into her left hand. I am sure conventional dentistry would have followed standard TMJ protocols. But in my world fascia is king.
I felt strain running up from her hand into her left shoulder, neck, and jaw. She connected some dots with me in therapy, and that strain pattern released nicely. Yesterday she emailed me as being much improved. I have been telling dentists about this approach for almost 50 years without success. For oral issues, including breastfeeding, my suggestion would be to look at the fascial web first.
