Before I tell this story, I cannot say this fast enough: The Gillespie Approach will not stop the seizures for every infant, toddler or child. I do not know how a child will respond until after therapy is completed. But I believe that it is worth a try for any little one having seizures.
#####
A toddler presented with seizures and developmental delays. For two years she has been under medical care at a large children’s hospital in Philadelphia. Doctors have done extensive testing and have tried five different medications. After spending well over $100,000, the parents report that nothing has worked.
Doctors told the parents that nothing else could be done to help their child. Refusing to believe that, they decided to look into complementary care and made an appointment with me.
Upon examination, she had a zero-second brain cycle. That does not mean that every child with a zero-second cycle has epilepsy. I hypothesize for this particular child pressure on a specific part of her brain was causing her seizures.
I found in therapy that a fascial strain pattern in her neck was pulling into her head. After the first session, her brain cycle opened beautifully to 100 seconds, a great response for any child.
On the second visit smiling dad told me that, since that therapy session, doctors did another EEG study, one of many over the two years. They reported that this study was her first clear EEG. Wow. Happy dad knew it had to have been this therapy, the only variable in her life.
For years I have talked about the critical importance of brain motion and the craniosacral aspect of the work. So much is unknown about epilepsy, but I believe the concept of brain motion is definitely a part of the solution.
I told dad that if she had been treated at birth, this probably all could have been prevented. The work at birth is my wish for the world.
"Disease begins in the fascia."
