My ninth-grade tutor at boarding school told my parents that I would never write anything. Sixty-three years later, I have written three books and now, with this one, 1,000 posts. It has been an interesting journey.
After spending ten years of schooling to become a periodontist, I walked away from it after receiving the “magic” of cranial therapy. After seeing amazing results in my practice with adults and children in 1978, I felt like I was called to explore the unknown.
In the 1980s and ’90s, my focus was the children’s work. In 2003, it centered on the brain-injured children’s work. In 2006, it was the newborn and infant work.
The first twenty years were difficult with losing practices in New England and Western Pennsylvania. When I settled in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, the state Board of Dentistry wanted to take my dental license away. Colleagues were saying nasty things about me. I persevered through it all.
When I wrote my first book and started the trainings in 1999, the tide turned. Kim Sherlock encouraged me to write website and social media posts in 2011. She and Holly Steflik took over Gillespie Approach Training in 2015. Brian Rossiter came on board in 2017 and took the posts and my internet presence to another level. Good things were happening.
My favorite post describes the power of the newborn and infant work. I am amazed every time I read it.
At 77, my plan is to continue to write about my discoveries as long as I am able. My thanks to everyone who has supported the work over the years. I expect that the Gillespie Approach will be the standard of care for every newborn in America, if not the world.
