CFT/IDM Requires a Different Therapeutic Approach

Therapists classically learn a specific cookbook (A,B,C,D,E) protocol for a condition and tend to follow it religiously. CFT/IDM requires a completely different mindset. Starting at point A, you listen, allow, and follow as the infant takes you to point B and beyond. Without a script, your trusting that the body knows best how to heal itself becomes critical. You may be uncomfortable in losing control, but you will find that you have tapped into the body’s innate healing wisdom. Since infants drive their own movement (Infant Driven Movement), you must feel secure in your own identity for this work. The leap from a fixing to a healing perspective makes all the difference.
