Connecting the Dots in the Gillespie Approach

New readers need to be asking the question, “Are my baby’s fussiness issues, that no medical professional really has a handle on, caused by birth trauma to the fascial system?”

I want you to start thinking why these infant conditions are happening and maybe there is a natural way to correct the problem. I also want you to be comfortable in connecting the body’s dots in space and time as noted in this story. A seven-month-old infant presented with strabismus in both eyes. Doctors at a major children’s hospital failed at patching and recommended eye surgery.

As an alternative health care provider, mom refused this proposal and wanted to check out other options. She mentioned that her baby arched her body a lot. Arching is a big deal in the Gillespie Approach.

It turned out that her full-body arching strain pattern was pulling into both of her eyes. In space, the fascia of the back was pulling into the distant eyes, and, in time, the problem appearing now was probably caused by earlier sustained fetal compression to the fascial web.

It is a different way of thinking in that the Gillespie Approach tries to identify the root cause of the problem and then help the body correct or heal it. The current medical model by-passes that train of thought and focuses on fixing the problem surgically.

I was taught as a surgeon to do the most conservative methods first. If they fail, surgery can always be a last resort. That makes sense to me.

From our Lancaster infant research, we learned that the arching strain needs to be cleared first in therapy for any baby. From our success with newborns with strabismus over that six-year investigational period, I feel we have a good chance to correct this baby’s issue.

I suspect that a number of visits will be required; fortunately, an understanding mom wants to desperately avoid surgery. I am looking forward to having the world do this work at birth to potentially nip these issues in the bud.
