A teachable moment…..a 22-year-old male presented today with severe vertigo. He has been sick his entire life with asthma, breathing issues, gut issues, mono, autoimmune issues, GERD, nursing issues, and a list of more. He has had a choking feeling his entire life. With this tipoff CFTers should have a feeling for the backstory…..there were problems during the pregnancy; mom had two months of bed rest and then a sixteen hour hard labor with the head engaged at the end. The fetus was distressed and an emergency c-section was done. The cord was wrapped so tight that mom was told, “the baby was lucky to survive”. His zero cycle opened to 50 seconds today…wow..the fascia was as tight in his throat as I have ever seen. It will be a slow process, but I am hoping his life will change dramatically. We believe that if the Baby Brain Score were done at EVERY birth and these and other babies red-flagged for CFT/IDM, much of this suffering can be avoided. As Ted Kennedy said, “The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”
