I am grateful to the student in LA two years ago who told me that I should be called “Dr. Loose”. The children think it is funny….One mother said on her second visit that during the week she totally forgot my name and thought of me as “Dr. Loose”. I really embrace the silliness of it, but on a deeper level I feel that it holds an important meaning.
Virtually everyone who comes to me has an incurable situation. That may be true in your practice too. People have seen many health care providers including mental health people and may be taking medication. No one really seems to have a handle on their problem. “Dr. Loose” finds them to be very tight, especially around their brain. I open the possibility that this tightness may be a part, possibly a big part, of their health issues. I think this is especially important for a young child where I make nothing about her/his condition; it is all about how tight s(he) is. My goal is to help take the tightness out of her/his body and see how s(he) responds to CFT. Everyone seems to resonate with this thinking.
