Fascial strain in the feet can create full-body structural issues.
A sixty-year-old woman presented with weakness on her entire right side. She has had right knee, hip, and shoulder issues since she was a child.
She had sought many avenues of therapy without success. She wanted my opinion as presented in the following thought process.
In the history, she said that no trauma caused this problem. I always try to find the root cause of an issue.
I was now thinking of possible birth trauma until she mentioned that she was a childhood figure skater. I thought she may have done this one or two sessions a week.
Instead, she skated three hours a day, 6 or 7 days a week, year round. She started skating at nine, had lessons at 12, and finished her career at 19.
The clincher was that she landed her axels, figure eights, and freestyle routines on her right foot. When I held that foot and ankle, I could feel fascial strain going up into her pelvis.
A repetitive strain injury can present in many forms. As I was working on her, she said that her pelvis felt more balanced, and she was walking more freely.
She had dealt with a lifetime of pain needlessly. This was a fairly easy correction, if you understand the function of the craniosacral fascial system.
When I then checked her pelvic and shoulder tissues, much of the strain was gone as the root of the problem was identified and corrected.
