Healing bone fractures - boy with broken arm - Gillespie Approach–Craniosacral Fascial Therapy

Healing Bone Fractures

Sometimes God clearly presents something new during a day at the office.

A ten-year-old former patient fractured her forearm from a biking accident. After going through the orthopedic protocol, her doctor wondered why she was not healing well after six weeks.

Her mother asked for my opinion. Fascial strain from the trauma of the accident appeared to be creating swelling in that area.

I hypothesize that this fascial tightness may have put pressure on her lymphatic system by not allowing the tissues to drain properly and delaying the healing.

Just by holding and listening to the tissues, I felt the fascia release in the area. I expect her to be fully healed when I recheck her arm in three weeks.

Later that day, a four-year-old former patient presented with a similar fracture, but the area was clear of fascial strain. His grandmother, a therapist trained in the Gillespie Approach and MFR, had immediately held his forearm after the trauma and could feel the fascia starting to release “like magic”.

The doctor later said that the bones had joined perfectly on the X-ray. What happened?

Science says that the fascial web connects every cell of the body. My theory is that the fascial web held that trauma, and, when it released, it returned all of the enmeshed bone cells to their former normal position.

For this one child, the body had the innate ability to reset that bone—amazing. This phenomenon could represent a major advancement in orthopedic work.

The orthopedic profession needs to investigate the Gillespie Approach for possible addition to the current medical protocol for bone fractures to expedite the healing process. It just makes perfect scientific sense.

The Grandmother Speaks

“As soon as my grandson fell during a soccer game, I started holding his forearm. At first there was some pain, but then it gradually subsided. I didn’t know there was a breakage.

“I continued holding his arm while his parents drove home. When he went on my therapy table, I gently treated the areas above and below his forearm. There was no pain!

“I felt that his tissues were slowly elongating, realigning, and sliding back into place—and still no pain. This was amazing because these injuries always are painful.

“I kept checking him over the next few days. His parents were deciding what to do because he seemed to be fine at that point.

“The next day they wanted to make sure he was healthy and took him to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The doctor said the bones were perfectly realigned on the X-ray. All they had to do was put a cast on as a protective measure since he was a very active boy.

“I kept treating the cast area and his whole body for weeks. After they took off the cast, I continued with therapy. During a confirmation visit, Barry said he could not feel any strain in his arm.

“I believe that it is critical to immediately start therapy after this type of trauma to facilitate whatever healing may follow.”
