An infant presented today with a severe arch (went into trunk extension) and twist in his body. We found that at least 1/2 of our research babies arched during evaluation and treatment. We postulated many arching theories. Today’s mom became worried during the pregnancy because her baby’s head was stuck in her lower right abdominal quadrant for weeks. Not able to “free swim’ in the uterus, she felt that he was possibly stuck in an arched and twisted position. As fascia grows and matures in utero, it may hold these strains for a lifetime of suffering. Most birth professionals feel that arching is a non-issue. We believe that it is a huge issue that needs to be resolved asap for infant health.
