For years as a periodontist I saw children and adults with clicking/popping jaw joints and limited opening. Now I am working with an infant with limited jaw opening with reflux and abdominal pain.
His pelvis and abdominal areas have cleared, and the remaining issue is the left lateral pterygoid muscle that opens the mouth. We found in our research with 800 babies that about 1/2 had nursing/ TMJ issues. I believe that relaxing his strain here now can help to mitigate a lifetime of TMJ problems.
