A concerned mother brought her son for evaluation because he started having nosebleeds while wearing a palatal expander. She wanted my opinion before he started conventional braces.
He also had other health issues: difficulty sleeping, emotional flareups, headaches, and difficulty concentrating and focusing. He had a tough start in life as a cesarean section newborn with the cord wrapped three times around his neck, causing a purple face.
He recently fell out of a golf cart and banged his forehead. He also fell off a slide when he was younger.
He presented with a zero-second brain cycle and strain throughout his body. His orthodontist had not connected his current health conditions and past history to anything related to his mouth.
When I worked with him, he had a strain in his left leg going into his twisted pelvis through his trunk into his neck and nose. After the session was completed, his brain cycle opened to an amazing 170 seconds.
I want every patient to be strain-free before starting orthodontics and the brain cycle checked at every visit when new dental forces are applied. Because of all of his past trauma, I assumed that he had a zero-second brain cycle before the palatal expander was inserted. But for sure that appliance reinforced his tight head, probably initiating the nosebleeds.
Orthodontists need to recognize that the teeth are attached to the rest of the body through the fascial web. Dentistry needs to understand that forces applied to the teeth can have negative ramifications throughout the body.
The best outcome for him would have been the work at birth to mitigate his birth trauma. Gillespie Approach Training for newborns can allow a provider to change the lives of thousands of children.
Mom Emails
“I am thankful to Dr. Gillespie for all that he did to help my son. Since completing the session, he has shown great improvement in his ability to focus, his cooperation, and overall calmness.
“His eyes seem brighter, he seems happier, and shows more self-control when things don’t go exactly how he expects. He has had more restful sleep and has had no nosebleeds. My only wish is that he could have had this therapy eleven years ago so that his quality of life could have been far greater.
“Also, I wanted to personally thank you for taking time to see our other three children. I have seen improvements in all of them in different ways and am grateful for your guidance and support in their healing.”
